We have been serving the crop insurance needs of growers since 1986. Our field and office staff has over 100 years combined experience and are well equipped to address any questions or concerns you may have. Understanding the ins and outs of crop insurance can be a daunting task. Our agency understands the importance of providing you simple solutions to both common and complicated situations.

Curtis Thompson

Curtis was raised on a canal irrigated farm in Rio Hondo, TX. He moved north to attend Tarleton State University where he graduated with a B.S. in Agriculture Science Teaching. He is also a graduate of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Master Marketer program. He spent 15 years as an Extension Agent and then joined Heifrin Crop in 1999. He specializes in Unit Division Options, New Breaking Requests, Written Agreements, and other niche crop insurance issues. Curtis lives in Hillsboro and enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Cari and Leann, and their families.

Teresa Baird

Teresa was raised in Malone, TX. She had a career at the Farm Service Agency before joining Heifrin Crop in 1997. Her previous experience at the FSA helps us quickly and efficiently get documents from the many FSA offices we work with. She handles all of our policy maintenance and changes, including landlords, new land, and just about anything related to policy structure. Years spent as a farmer’s wife, FSA employee, and agent have left Teresa with the ability to treat growers like family. She resides in Malone and enjoys spending her time away from the office with her son, Timothy, and his family.

Jacob Little

Jacob was raised on a row crop and cow-calf operation in the Gulf Coast town of Garwood, TX. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Animal Science, Masters of Agriculture, and Certificate in Business from Mays Business School. He is also a graduate of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Master Marketer program. He worked in direct sales as well as ran a small feedlot before joining Heifrin Crop in 2012. He handles any hypotheticals or numbers that insureds may want to crunch. He has also developed numerous programs to track paperwork, double check claims, and to ensure that everything needed to pass a policy review is on file and correct. Jacob and his wife, Amanda, live in Abbott with their two daughters Lilly and Abby. They enjoy spending time with their families, horses, cattle, and cheering for the Aggies.

Kasey Sykora

Kasey was raised in Glendale, Arizona but moved to the community of West, Texas for
her senior year of high school. She graduated from Texas State University with a B.A. in History. She worked for numerous medical offices developing and integrating file systems in San Antonio before returning to West with her husband Eric. After returning to Central Texas she ran the admissions department at Hill Regional Hospital before joining Heifrin Crop in 2018. Her experience managing volumes of medical records has been particularly valuable to the agency’s goal on unrivaled record maintenance and storage. She also helps organize all marketing efforts, promotional items, and customer events. Kasey and Eric live in West with their son Michael and daughter Kennedy where they serve on multiple community boards and foundations. They enjoy spending their weekends with friends, running 5K/10K races and attending live music.

Rebecca Balderas

Rebecca was raised and resides in Hillsboro, TX. She spent over 15 years in retail management and customer service before joining Heifrin Crop in 2015. She does all our data entry and mapping. Most customers do not know that every acre that is insured now has to be mapped and verified. In addition, she works with Kasey on all marketing efforts, promotional items, and customer events. She has four daughters, Alex, Raven, Jayden, Sydney, with her husband Lou. They recently welcomed her first grandchild, Cooper, in 2020. Rebecca enjoys attending her girl’s activities and sporting events as well family events.

James Hooser

James was raised in Frost, TX and grew up working on the family farm. He graduated from Tarleton State University with a B.S. in Animal Production. He returned home to farm and eventually formed J&L Farms after he married his wife Lisa. He began selling crop insurance in 1998 and became part of Heifrin Crop in 1999. James now farms and ranches full time, operating both J&L Farms and Mill Creek Meat Company. James and Lisa have two grown children, Carley and Samuel.

Rollin Heifrin

Rollin was raised south of Dallas in Lancaster, TX. He grew up farming with his father before attending Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He graduated in 1971 with a B.S. in Agronomy and returned to North Texas to start several businesses including a seed and chemical dealership and later a John Deere dealership. In 1986, he founded Heifrin Crop Insurance Agency in Scurry, TX. The office was moved to its present location in Hillsboro in 1997. Rollin is now retired to College Station with his wife Martha, their two sons Frank and Jeff, and their families. They enjoy spending time traveling, visiting farm shows, and attending livestock shows with their grandkids.

Martha Heifrin

Martha was raised in San Antonio and met her future husband, Rollin, while attending ag leadership activities in high school. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1971 with a degree in Home Economics. Martha spent her adult life raising her sons Frank and Jeff, and supporting Rollin in all his endeavors. In the early years of the agency Martha both taught school and ran the office at Heifrin Crop. Starting in 2002 she worked for Heifrin Crop full time. She spent years volunteering at the church and school, supporting the boys in all their activities, and tending to her flock of show lambs. She is now retired to College Station with her family and enjoys tending to her lambs and sharing that experience with her grandchildren.

Justin Kaska

Justin was raised on a farm in Abbott, TX where his family still farms. He graduated from Texas A&M with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics. After graduation, he returned to Abbott to operate his own farm. In 2018, he started a career as a credit analyst for Lone Star Ag Credit and joined Heifrin Crop in 2022. He uses his farming background and analyst skills to optimize policy options, gather production, and ensure that claims are accurate and fast. Vetting and tracking claims is a process that most agencies don't do, however, we feel our customers deserve that level of service, and Justin does a great job of it. Justin lives in his hometown of Abbott with his wife, Kelly and their 3 children, Dinah, Zander, and Trevor. In his spare time Justin enjoys attending his kids' activities and spending time in the garden.
